About Us

I am Joanna Lees-Castro, and I own and operate Easy Marketing Strategies, a marketing strategy resource center from Lees Castro Associates. We provide information and guidance to help small and medium businesses build winning marketing strategies that are effective, affordable, and easy to implement.

I started my career in Astrophysics at Princeton University. Yes, Astrophysics – a long way from Marketing! After getting my PhD and spending several years in astrophysics at the University of Chicago, I decided academia was not for me.

I joined Intel Corporation in 1994 working on supercomputers (some of the largest computers in the world, used by universities and national labs), and then from there gradually found myself moving further toward technology marketing, strategy and the more mainstream business side of Intel.

Overall, I spent more than fifteen years in various marketing management, strategic planning and consulting management positions at Intel, working with partner and customer companies of all sizes to help them market and leverage their solutions for business benefit.

After Intel decided to dissolve the group I was a part of in 2008, it was time to think about next steps.

Rather than finding another position within the company, I decided to join my husband on an expat appointment in Paris and spend some time writing on marketing, strategy and technology topics. I had learnt so much from my marketing and strategy roles, and although I love writing I had little opportunity previously with all the other commitments of a fulltime management role.

That was the beginning of this website, as well as my Software Marketing Advisor site, using the web site building and hosting tool Site Build It! (which, by the way, I highly recommend – check out our SBI reviews here ). I hope you enjoy the site, and are able to apply the information and insights to your own business.
